My Life in a Nutshell
Here's an email exchange between my friends and me that pretty much sums up my life right now.
Original Email from Me
OK, so four things...
1) the photo shoot at the Y went well, but since the last poster was only a 3/4 shot, i didn't bother to wear my narciso rodriguez (HOT) heels... i just wore my black boots. well, the photo they liked best unfortunately was full-body, so what a waste of a great shoe opportunity...... oh well, the poster will be up around the building and on the outside of the building next week. possibly even in the newspapers at some point. so if you ever see the picture at some point--the answer is yes, i know, the narciso rodriguez heels would have looked better.
2) the Y had jeff's driver's license, which he'd left there at some point... should i let him know i have it? or should i just throw it away?
3) the dog park guy seems like he might be interested... i'm not sure. i'm not even sure if i'm interested, yet i don't want to totally discourage him (unlike lee who i plan to be like, "stay away from me, you stalker," if he keeps calling me). what do i do?
4) i lost my cell phone and i can't find it. i'm going to try to find it tonight or get a new phone asap... but if you call my cell and i never call back, that's why.
Response from Ally
1. What photoshoot at the Y?
2. I think you should call him and tell him you have it and then you should cut it up into little pieces before you give it to him (I told you, don't ask me about Jeff unless you want to hear what I have to say).
3. You yourself said back in high school that you can't possibly get over someone until you start to like someone new, so you should go for it with the dog park person, but I'm sure mom is rooting for Lee.
4. I was starting to wonder why you haven't called...
Response from Hannah
1. right - what photo shoot at the Y? wendy, am i friends with a model and i didn't know it?
2. why did the people at the Y give you jeff's id? you look absolutely nothing like him....i think you should give it back to the people at the Y and they can decide how best to handle the situation.
3. don't - what ever you do- discourage the dog-park guy. in fact, maybe from now on you should wear your narciso rodriquez (HOT) heels to the dog park. (or not, i recognize that it's a pretty stupid idea.)
4. you call people on your cell phone? now i feel just plain left out :)
Response from Jerrod
1) As a gay man I am a little disappointed... Cardinal rule #246: "Never get caught without hot shoes!" Which brings me to Cardinal rule #322, "Be prepared for all kinds of shots at a photoshoot."
2) How can Jeff not realize he doesn't have his license? I soooo want to be vindictive right now!!!! But I won't. Take it back to the Y with his new number and have them call him. He needs his license, however you do not need the heartache of talking to someone as non-communicative as he is.
3) I agree with Ally on this. Have fun and trust me on what I am about to say... YOU DESERVE IT!!!! and if he's hot, all the better. (that was Aaron's addition)
4) Did it somehow fall into your mom's purse and will she be mailing it to me : ) [Note: This is in reference to my house keys, which somehow fell into my mom's shopping bag right before she flew back home to California. She had to overnight them to Jerrod since my mailbox key was on the same keychain. Yes, I'm a spaz.]
Response from me
wow, you guys are fast.
1) the photo shoot at the Y was not a big deal. they're doing a promotional campaign with "young driven professionals who balance life, work, and going to the Y" blah blah blah. (i didn't want to tell them i'm really not that driven, so it's easy to find time to make it to the Y.) anyways, there will be a poster of me on the outside of the Y on 4th ave as well as a few inside the building. (great, i'm sure lee really will need the daily reminder that i exist.) and jerrod, the shoe thing will never happen again. however, it could have been worse. i could have been wearing flats. but on my way to the Y i even thought, "i wonder if i should have worn the narciso rodriguez heels. nah, the other poster only showed the guy's top half." c'est la vie. they must have decided they needed to be further away when they took my picture. :-(
2) thanks, hannah. thank god i look nothing like a 6'1", 200 lb, bearded white man. i was getting worried! they gave it to me because they knew he had come in with me during the fall some time. i think i might burn his license in a seance. or i might just throw it in a bag with the rest of his stuff i've accumulated. he's lived without it for awhile, so he must not miss it and has possibly replaced it by now making it a moot point about returning it.
3) i don't KNOW if he's interested, but i think he MIGHT be. once while i was still with jeff, he made some comment, "i wonder what restaurant it is that smells so good..." and i was like, "hmm, oh. i don't know. probably that mexican restaurant." but left it at that. well, monday night he made the same comment and instead of saying something charismatic like, "hmm, oh. i don't know. probably that mexican restaurant. want to try it some time?" i think i said something like, "hmm, oh. i don't know. probably that mexican restaurant. i better get sidney home because it's dinner time." yes, smooth, i know.
ally, how on earth can mom possibly favor lee?? i mean, i know being asian and an engineer gives him bonus points, but he is also clearly deranged and psychotic!! hannah, i'll tell the story about lee when i see you--hopefully this weekend??
4) hannah, i do 90% of my communication with the outside world by email. the only people i actually call to have a conversation with are my parents and my sisters. otherwise i only handle logistical arrangements via phone. if it makes you feel better, you're one of my 9 "hot keys" and that's after you exclude the 6 numbers i have devoted to my immediate family's various home and cell phone numbers. jerrod's and tia's cell phones also make that list. :-)
